Local, Healthy & Cooperative.

It was another hot day for our next to last Tour stop but we once again had a spectacular setting in Roger Williams Park.

We had a good array of partners and some truly wonderful entertainment, ranging from ballet and jazz to the wildest group of musicians we've ever seen; the Extraordinary Rendition Band and the memorable Burundi Drummers

The City of Providence was extremely supportive, with Mayor Angel Taveras coming to support all the local and national partners and thank them for celebrating community, cooperatives and volunteerism.  Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts and Senator Jack Reed also both walked around the event and spoke to the 1,800 attendees.  Lt. Governor Roberts even had her picture taken with one of our Rhody Fresh farmers in the Cabot photo booth!

The RI Credit Union had kids paint banks and Farm Fresh Rhode Island had a fun, veggie twisting display.  From bike safety tips to an activity teaching people where their fruits and vegetables come from; Equal Exchange chocolate sampling to free water supplied by Crystal Spring and Stop & Shop, the opportunity for kids to name the 6 week old calf brought by one of our local dairy farmers to having kids and adults alike fill out their ribbons for the Create the Good booth...it was a magical day.

REI helped tie us all together with their passports, providing prizes for those who got their books stamped at participating partner booths.  Once again, Farmer Mark and Chef Jimmy worked their magic with our cheddar vat and Cheddar S'mores.
